Kirk's quarters--the Captain's quarters--aren't hard to find. They're very near the bridge, in case of emergencies, in case he needs to be contacted or found off-duty. That being said he's rarely in them, and waiting for Khan there feels strange.

He watches the time.

"Release."

Kirk says abruptly, bracing Khan on his shoulder as the ceiling unclasps the restraints. He eases Khan to the floor.

He comes down into his lap, humming in pleasure, curling gladly into him. He's still light headed as can be.

And this, too, is not what he expected. But he holds him anyway, and his heart is thudding.

Khan listens to his heart pound, and breathes gradually in time with him, absorbed by the experience, by once again, the touch.

He could sleep gladly, just now.

And Kirk is hopelessly relaxed, floating with it all somehow. He doesn't want Khan to go back yet, and rationalizes it by telling himself it's not save to send him back yet.

Much, much too late later, Khan lifts his head up, pushing himself half upright and murmuring;

"May I get you water, Captain?"

Kirk nods, still dazed.

"It's over there."

The replicator, and the water supply.

He moves, still a little loopy himself, to have some and then bring some back for him.

It's too much to think about talking about right now, so he just murmurs in pleasure and helps him to drink.

"Thanks."

He sounds hoarse to his own ears, and when he looks up where the rigging had been he laughs.

"That didn't go quite how I thought it would."

"I liked it."

He admits, holding the glass up to him.

"You were kind."

[kobayashiwhatnow]

"Well, like I said, it's not punishment."

Kirk wouldn't have done it if it was. What to call it, though, he has no idea. He takes another sip of water as he mulls it over.

Khan just waits, still pleasantly blissed out, looking forward to his verdict.

"What else have you got?"

Kirk finally asks, hand resting on Khan's shoulder.

"What do you mean, what else? What else than water, or what else than strappado?"

Curious, settling under his touch.

[kobayashiwhatnow]

"Yeah, what else than strappado. Wouldn't mind doing it again, but it makes me wonder what else we could do. If we did this again."

[full_of_wrath]

"There's much more restrictive bondage."

Is where his mind goes first.

"If you liked the rope."

[kobayashiwhatnow]

"Well...yeah, I did, but you were the one tied up."

And he can't read Khan well enough to understand.

"I had... a wonderful time, just now, some of the most fun I've ever had in bondage. I feel happy, I feel well, I feel like things are going to be all right."

He'd said bondage, not captivity, which makes Kirk wonder where else he's done this for fun and who with.

"I feel like...like some part of me is just relaxed now. I want to do it again."

"I'd like that."

He admits, with a deep breath in.

"I'll send you reference material for other things I enjoy."

"Good."

And, because he wants some semblance of Captain-prisoner feel here,

"Have it to me by the end of your shift tomorrow."

It's a good reminder of the reality of their situation, and more than a little startling. Khan reels emotionally for a second, buys himself time by taking the water glass back and moving to go refill it.

At a loss, he comes up with a bland;

"Of course, Captain."

"C'mere."

He sort of regrets putting the reminder in. It's what Spock would have done (No, Spock never would have done this in the first place). And how often does he agree with what Spock does?

"You need some water, too. Come sit down."

He's eager to take the change of heart at face value, coming in close and curling up to him, head on his knee, leaving the water for him. Having it flicker seems only to make him more determined to cling to the momentary kindness.

"I have to get back to my quarters soon."

"Yeah, I know. But drink some, rest a little."

Could be that Kirk likes having him right there on his knee.

"You remember how to use the replicator in your room?"
